What are the types of knitted fabrics

1、 Classification by use
Knitted fabrics can be divided into underwear fabrics and outerwear fabrics according to their uses. The underwear fabric is characterized by fitting, elastic, comfortable, easy to move, good softness, good moisture absorption and permeability, and good wrinkle resistance, but the fabric is easy to loose, poor dimensional stability, and easy to snag, pilling. Varieties include weft flat needle, mesh fabric, double rib, single rib, pile, etc. The outer garment fabric is characterized by firmness, wear resistance, small shrinkage, easy washing and elasticity.
2、 Classification according to production process
1. Weft knitted fabric
The weft knitted fabric is woven on various weft knitting machines with flat needle weave, variable flat needle weave, rib flat needle weave, double rib flat needle weave, jacquard weave, terry weave, etc. It can be formed with at least one yarn, but in order to improve the production efficiency, it is usually woven with more than one yarn.
2. Warp knitted fabric
Warp-knitted fabric cannot be made with one yarn. It needs to be made with multiple yarns in a loop along the longitudinal order of the cloth surface at the same time. This is because one yarn can only form a chain formed by one coil. Warp-knitted fabric has the advantages of good longitudinal dimension stability, crisp fabric, small dispersion, no crimping, good permeability, etc., but its lateral extension, elasticity and softness are not as good as weft knitted fabric.
3、 Classification according to production materials
1. Polyester yarn-dyed knitted fabric
Polyester yarn-dyed knitted fabric is made of dyed low-elastic polyester silk as raw material, configured with different colors according to the design requirements, and woven into 3~6 colors or even more patterns with jacquard weave. Common flower patterns include strip, grid, flower, figure, animal, landscape, geometric pattern, etc. The fabric is bright in color, beautiful, harmonious in color, compact and thick in texture, clear in texture, strong in wool shape, and has a style similar to wool fabric tweed. It is mainly used for men's and women's jackets, suits, windcoats, vests, skirts, cotton-padded jacket fabrics, children's clothing, etc.
2. Polyester knitted labor fabric
Polyester knitted labor fabric, also known as polyester knitted denim, is made of low-elastic polyester yarn, one of which is thicker and the other is indigo, and is woven by jacquard weave. The surface of the fabric is sandwiched with uniform and small natural color spots in indigo. This kind of fabric is tight and thick, firm and wear-resistant, firm and elastic. If the raw material is core-spun yarn containing spandex, it can be woven into elastic knitted denim with better elasticity. Mainly used for men's and women's jackets and trousers.
3. Polyester knitted wick fabric
The polyester knitted wick fabric is made of low elastic polyester yarn with variable double rib weave. During weaving, 1~2 stitches are removed every several longitudinal coils, so that the cloth surface presents uneven straight stripes with different width and width. The thickness of stripes can be determined according to requirements. This kind of fabric has distinct concave-convex, thick and plump feel, and good elasticity and warmth retention. It is mainly used for men's and women's jackets, suits, windbreaker, children's clothing and other fabrics.
4. Polyester cotton knitted fabric
The polyester covered cotton knitted fabric is a double rib composite polyester/cotton fabric. It uses polyester yarn to weave the front side of the fabric, and cotton yarn to weave the back side of the fabric. The front side and the back side are connected by a loop. After dyeing, the fabric can be used as shirt, jacket and sportswear fabric. This kind of fabric is crisp and wrinkle-resistant, firm and wear-resistant, and the side of the body is hygroscopic and breathable, soft and comfortable.
5. Artificial fur knitted fabric
Artificial fur knitted fabric often uses cotton yarn, viscose yarn or polypropylene yarn as the bottom cloth yarn, and acrylic or modified acrylic fiber as the pile. When weaving, the fiber bundle and the ground yarn are looped together, and the two ends of the fiber are exposed on the surface of the fabric. After weaving, the adhesive is coated on the reverse side of the fabric to make the fabric shape, so as to avoid hair loss. Then, after a series of finishing processes such as combing, printing, shearing, etc., the artificial fur with various appearance effects is obtained. This kind of fabric feels thick, soft and warm. According to different varieties, it is mainly used as overcoat fabric, clothing lining, collar, hat, etc. Artificial fur is also woven by warp knitting.
6. Velvet knit
Velvet knitted fabric is made of cotton yarn, polyester filament, nylon filament, polyester/cotton blended yarn and other raw materials as the ground yarn, cotton yarn, polyester filament or polyester textured yarn, polyester/cotton blended yarn as the pile yarn, and the ground yarn woven on the plush knitting machine by using the terry weave to form the ground weave, and the pile yarn forms the terry, which is then cut to form the wool on the surface of the fabric, and then trimmed and ironed. It can also be woven into the ground according to the backing yarn and cut into loops. This kind of fabric has a soft feel, thick, firm and wear-resistant fabric, thick and towering fluff, and soft color. It is mainly used as outer garment fabric, collar or hat material. Swan knitted fabric is a kind of plush knitted fabric. In addition to weft knitting, plush knitted fabrics can also be woven by warp knitting, for example, warp knitted terry fleece fabric.
7. Hong Kong-style knitted fabric
Hong Kong-style knitted fabric is a weft knitted fabric made of high-grade cashmere and polyester yarn. It not only has the smooth, waxy, soft and bulky feel of cashmere fabrics, but also has the characteristics of soft luster, good drapability, non-shrinkage and strong permeability of silk fabrics. Mainly used as fabric for spring, autumn and winter fashion.
